Ricky Hatton wants to avenge humiliation at the hands of Mayweather and Pacquiao – Boxing News
Former world champion Ricky Hatton is making his comeback, not to just be in the ring but to avenge the humiliation he suffered at the hands of WBC welterweight titlist Floyd Mayweather and former WBO welterweight titlist Manny Pacquiao.
Hatton, who announced last month, has now revealed his main motivation behind the decision. According to Hatton, it is about time for him to face Pacquiao and Mayweather once again in the ring, to avenge his knockout defeats by both the fighters.
“I have only been beaten by the two best boxers of our generation, so ultimately it would be good to have redemption by fighting one of them again and winning,” said Hatton to World Boxing News.
Hatton was an unbeaten fighter before challenging Floyd Mayweather Jr. for a fight. It was the biggest mistake of Hatton’s career to provoke the unbeaten American fighter, who knocked out the Manchester native in the tenth round. Even though Hatton’s performance
in the initial rounds was up to the mark, he lost his game during the later rounds just when Mayweather struck him down.
Following his defeat to Mayweather, Hatton went onto face Paulie Malignaggi and Juan Lascano, grabbing victories against both. He then made yet another blunder in his career by challenging Filipino champion Manny Pacquiao, suffering a two round knockout
defeat at the hands of the Filipino warrior.
Hatton’s defeat against Pacquiao was so devastating that he decided to hang his gloves. Now, almost after 36 months, the Briton fighter wants to test the water once again. Hatton is making his comeback against Vyacheslav Senchenko at the Manchester Arena
on November 24.
“I want to get back up there at the top of my game, so I suppose that would be the ultimate goal for me to get back at the very top,” said Hatton.
In his previous interviews, Hatton has claimed that he feels fit enough for fighting once again, and that he believes he should be in the ring to grab some more wins. However, Hatton’s associates believe the Brit is making a mistake by trying to add more
to this already legendary career.
