Ricky Hatton’s comeback bout to be televised on Primetime – Boxing News
Former welterweight titlist Ricky Hatton confirmed today that his comeback bout against Vyacheslav Senchenko on November 24 will be televised live on Primetime UK. According to Hatton Promotions, the headlining fight and the entire undercard will be featured
on channel 498 on Sky, Virgin on Demand. Moreover, the fights are to be streamed online via Primetime’s website
http://www.primetimeboxing.co.uk.
Hatton, who retired last year, currently stands with a record of 45 wins and 2 defeats. Both his defeats came at the hands of two of the most celebrated boxers of all time, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. While Hatton was able to last ten rounds
against Mayweather, he could only survive two one round against Filipino fight sensation Manny Pacquiao, succumbing to a second round knockout.
“I want British boxing to be proud of me again. The only way to convince everyone I'm back is by flattening someone on 24th November,” said Hatton who believes he still has enough fight left in him.
“To be offered this opportunity, to broadcast Hatton vs. Senchenko, is a huge deal for us,” asserted Chris Ratcliff, Director of Programming.
“This could be the start of a comeback tale of Hollywood proportions! We will support Ricky and his team all the way and wish all the best for him on 24th November,” Ratcliff added.
Hatton believes there is a lot in the boxing world that he still needs to achieve. Among his ambitions is a fight against fellow citizen Amir Khan, former unified IBF and WBA light welterweight titlist. In addition, he wants to go head to head against Mayweather
and Pacquiao in order to avenge his knockout losses.
However, it should be noted here that Hatton’s close associates are not in the favour of him making a return. According to promoter Frank Warren, Hatton has cemented his legacy and he has done enough to be one of the best boxers in the world. Warren believes
there is nothing left for Hatton to prove and that his comeback might be a huge mistake for the Briton, as it can destroy the legacy he left behind previously.
