Ricky Holloway conquers two heats of the J.B Riney MBE Kent Champion Hurdle
The three heats of the J.B Riney MBE Kent Champion Hurdle were hosted by Crayford on Saturday, 10th November, 2012 over 540 metres. Two out of the three contests were won by the Ricky Holloway trained hounds, not only did the trainer managed getting
the prize money of two heats, his trainees clocked in the least time too. Rather, both his winners went in for the wire quicker than the winner of the heat that was won by the entry of trainer, B. D. O’Suillvan.
The winner’s prize money of the first heat went to the favourite entry of trainer, B. D. O’Sullivan, College Master. The first trap did not break very smoothly from the gate, the four-year-old brindle dog led on for the wire, under taking the track distance
in 35.09 seconds.
Missing the chance by 3 ¼ lengths was the J. M. Liles trained, Jagerbomber.
The first and the second positions of the second heat went to the same kennel, Ricky Holloway’s. The fourth trap, Soviet Military, set into an early pace, and then did not wait for long to take the leading position, settling the race in 34.72 seconds.
The two-year-old black dog defeated his stable mate, Airforce Spirit, by 9 ¾ lengths, a sweeping success for Premier Fantasy’s son.
The third and final heat of the Champion Hurdle again went to the favourite entry sent by the same trainer who landed the second heat of the contest. The brindle dog, Mo Realta Frank, was quick to distance away from the rest of the competition, and then
was swift to draw clear of the lot.
The blue trap took 34.27 seconds to make it to the other end of the wire.
Qualifying as the runner-up of the race by a massive margin of seventeen lengths was the T. Foster trained, Clonkeen Theo.
The two trained by the same trainer did not only win, but win with pride and margins rarely drawn.
The two winning hounds did come across points where there success was not as apparent and losing the heat seemed to be the outcome, however they pulled back the form and got the trainer his due share.
