Ricky Nolasco prefers being traded by Miami Marlins, says his agent - MLB Update
The highest paid player on the Miami Marlins’ roster, Ricky Nolasco has grown sick of the prevailing culture of the club.
It has been indicated by his desire to be traded to some other organisation. His agent has reported that Nolasco does not want to spend the rest of his career with the team.
His agent however has not confirmed whether a formal request has been sent to the team by Nolasco for being removed from the roster and shipped somewhere else.
It is highly likely that he has done so and is waiting for a response from the management at the moment.
Nolasco has disliked the recent move by Miami of fire selling.
The roster, which hosted stars a few months ago, was made to look as if it belongs to a Minor League team when a package of players was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays by the Marlins.
Just like the fans, Nolasco appears to be extremely unhappy with this decision. It is demoralising for him to play for a team, which has lost competitiveness.
Earlier outfielder, Giancarlo Stanton also expressed his concerns over Twitter immediately after the trade was announced by the club. He was worried about the lack of requisite talent in the team and the high probability of failure of the club in the upcoming
season.
Matt Sosnick, agent of Nolasco, has mentioned the defensive approach adopted by the Marlins in the offseason as the reason why the starting pitcher wants to distance himself from the club.
"Ricky and I have spoken a lot since the end of the season," Sosnick said. "Just watching the way the offseason has transpired for the Marlins and the moves they've made, he and I agree that he would probably be better served playing somewhere else. If he
had his druthers, he would pitch for somebody other than the Marlins in 2013 and beyond."
Instead of strengthening credentials of their team, officials of the club downgraded them. To make matters worse, they are least bothered to add new players for the vacant spots on their roster.
It will be interesting to see which team shows interest for his acquisition.
