Ricky Nolasco to stay in Miami Marlins for 2013 regular season, says David Samson - MLB Update
David Samson, president for Miami Marlins, has rubbished the possibility that Ricky Nolasco will be traded by them during offseason.
Responding to the speculations arising from the recent mega trade deal agreed between the Marlins and the Toronto Blue Jays, he has clarified that Nolasco will be on the roster for 2013 Major League regular season.
The Marlins are being severely criticised from various quarters for failing to retain their star players.
They resorted to a spending spree last year, giving an impression that the players added on the roster will be offered ample opportunities by them for unleashing their best performances.
Unfortunately their faith has taken just one year to disappear as they get rid of the core players of the team by trading them.
Fans are flabbergasted, calling into question the move by their officials. The likes of Jose Reyes and Mark Buehrle, who are considered to be a source of pride for the fans, are also a part of the deal.
President Samson has defended the owner, Jeffrey Loria stating that he seriously wants to bring glories for the team. Samson has mentioned his desire to win a World Series ring for the fans and how he is working towards achieving this objective.
“Jeffrey said he wants to own the team and wants to get another ring for the people here in South Florida. He wants to keep going at it. Two last-place finishes in a row is not a good place to start,” Samson responded to a question.
Talking about outfielder Giancarlo Stanton, Samson has reiterated commitment of the team to make sure he plays for this club throughout his career.
“Giancarlo is on the team for, I want to say, four years at the minimum. We’d love to have him end his career here because we think he is that good and if he wants to be with us well be able to work out something long term. If not, not,” Samson said.
Nolasco can take the statement of the president to be assured that he is not going to go anywhere.
He can keep his focus now on preparations for the upcoming season. He will be hoping that he makes up for his poor shows in the last season during 2013.
