Ricky Ponting Expects David Hussey to be a dominant Force in the World Cup
With Michael Hussey ruled out of the ICC World Cup 2011, the Australian skipper Ricky Ponting has pinned his hopes on the other Hussey (David), Michael’s other brother. Ponting believes David can be a dominant force in the upcoming World Cup, which is being
jointly hosted by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and Bangladesh this year from the 19th of February.
Ponting has been particularly impressed by the way David Hussey played in the recently concluded seven-match ODI series against England.
David dominated in the One Day format of the game in the absence of Ponting and Mike Hussey; both the players were injured and ruled out of the one day event. Hussey suffered a hamstring injury while Ponting was out due to a broken finger.
Talking about the recent comeback of David, Ponting said, “He felt he didn't make the most of his opportunity last time around and this time he looks a better, more composed, more confident player. He's been able to win a couple of games with a couple of
very solid knocks for us.”
Ponting believes that the loss that the Australian side has suffered due to the omission of Michael Hussey, from Australia's World Cup squad, will be covered by his brother during the World Cup.
Ponting reiterated that David’s resurgence couldn’t have come at a better time than this and his inclusion in the World Cup squad will definitely benefit the Aussies once the mega event gets underway.
“When you've got players as good as him, with that sort of confidence behind them going into a big tournament, it's really good for our group," he said.
