Ricky Ponting Warns England of the Dangers Ahead
Australian Test Captain, Ricky Ponting , has cautioned England
that their start to the esteemed Ashes series
will be packed with difficulty. Comments of this nature are already hovering around
the premises, where both these cricketing giants, clash with each other on 25th
November at Gabba, Brisbane. Such crude remarks have always been part of this one-of-a-kind
conflict. Players from both teams are shedding light on the conclusion of this series as well as the current caliber of the
opposing players .Ponting had reason to be happy and geared up for the Ashes, after
his team, persuasively beat Sri Lanka in the 3rd ODI to take the series .
The Australian Captain cautioned England about the Gabba arena, emphasizing
that they will find it tough to play their natural game on it. Although
the opponents have two more warm-up matches before the start of the series, still it will do them no good in
handling the menacing speed
and spring of the Gabba plane. This
pitch has always troubled touring teams which take some time to acclimatize to
the erratic spring and speed of the ball. In order to see-off these problems, England
will need first-rate practice to adapt to Australian surroundings. Otherwise
they will find it extremely hard to start off on day one of the series.
England managed to win their first preliminary match against Western
Australia and has two more left before the series commences. This will give the
English side a great mental boost and assurance before progressing into the
first test match. England’s Andrew Strauss was the ace player, scoring a
brilliant 120 not-out and Swann claiming four wickets in the second innings.
However Ponting stresses that Australia’s record is incredibly superior at
Gabba and he wants to progress further with this milestone.
Australian seam bowlers enjoyed at Gabba, on Sunday, when they steam-rolled
the ever-so-sure Sri Lankan batting line up. They restricted http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 to a
mere total of 115 runs, taking wickets
at regular intervals .Mckay and Starc shared nine wickets among them, giving them their
greatest figures in ODI’s. Mckay ended with his first ever five wicket haul
and Starc administered his first ever four wicket haul.
Ponting stressed on the fact that the Australians have won
majority of their test matches in Brisbane and this gives them an edge. He also
emphasized that this is the best possible wicket in the country and it will
always assist the fast bowlers, spinners and the batsmen.
