Ricky Ponting hits back at critics; alerts about Ashes fight back
They may be low on confidence and struggling for form but the captain of the Australian cricket team has alerted the critics of a fight back. The Australian team has lost the second Ashes Test match and was not able to capitalize on the strong start in the
first Test but Ricky Ponting has suggested to not rule out http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 as of yet.
The Australian team may be low on confidence but their attitude remains the same as it has been over the last decade. Ponting admits that the Australian team was outplayed in the Adelaide Test but vows to be back in the Perth Test with a win and pressurize
the English team.
Ponting stated in an interview today, "Despite being 1-0 down and clearly outplayed in Adelaide, we are still very much in the series and a win at Perth will give us the momentum we need to seriously challenge England and win the Ashes back."
Ponting has been under fire from the media and former cricketers but the stylish right hander fired back at the critics. He said that he will not consider retirement possibilities as his aim is to play cricket for as many years as he is fit and performing
for his team. Regarding the captaincy he said that this decision is up to the selectors but that has nothing to do with his retirement possibilities.
Ponting said that he has confidence and will continue to lead his country until he had the responsibility. Even if he is not retained as the captain of the team, Ponting still aims to continue as a senior player in the side.
Ponting admitted that he is liable for the performance of the team as he is the leader of the unit. Australia has not won a match in the last five of their Test matches.
Ponting believes that the Perth wicket will have some spice for the fast bowlers which it has been known for in the past. In recent times, the wicket has slowed down to a certain extent and the batting has become easier.
There have been a lot of changes made by the Australian selectors in the team and some new players have been added to the squad. Ponting is not bothered at all by the selection of the youngsters. He stated, “It’s always an exciting time when youngsters are
chosen to play for Australia. Their enthusiasm becomes infectious in the dressing room and out on the ground.”
Ponting thinks that his team didn’t play good cricket and he also has to score runs in order to regain the confidence. He said that he is not far away from good form and he will prove that in the upcoming match. He believes that his contribution is of much
important for the team to make a comeback in the series.
Ponting had been a successful captain over the years for Australia but his recent form and captaincy has been pointed out by his critics. Ponting did answer the critics by turning down the retirement plans but it would be better if the batsman answers his
critics with his bat. The best answer from Ponting would be a century in the next match and possibly a win.
