“We need our frontline spinners to strike so that they can be in form for the big games ahead, including the one against Pakistan this weekend (Saturday),” said Ponting while talking to the media reporters on the eve of the game. “Lack of enough wickets from them is a concern.”
The Subcontinent wickets and conditions are considered spin-friendly and the slow bowlers were expected to play an important role with the old ball in the middle overs when the wicket starts spinning. However, the Australian spinners are yet to make an impact on the tournament.
