Australia’s legendary batsman and former skipper, Ricky Ponting, is eager to lead Hobart Hurricanes’ batting attack in the ongoing domestic tournament, Big Bash League T20, before turning to prepare for the upcoming 4-Test home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, starting
on Boxing Day.
Punter claims that he is currently focusing on the 20-over format of the game and the BBL stint has nothing to do with Test preparations. He also hopes to regain his lost form by playing this tournament, asserting that he wants to gather laurels in order
to build up confidence for facing the mighty Men in Blue.
The most senior Kangaroo player of the time has also urged the youngsters to play to their potential and make the revamped BBL event a spectacle.
Talking to the media, Ponting said, “It's not my preparation for the Tests. My Test preparation starts after that. So I'll worry about that on Tuesday when we're back into camp as a Test team.”
He further told, “But while I'm here with the Hurricanes, I'll be training and preparing the best way that I can to make sure I'm playing good Twenty20 cricket. With the amount of time and effort that's been put into the Big Bash the last couple of years
and certainly this season I think it's really important that all the players do the best they can to make the game the best spectacle possible.”
Reportedly, the national selectors, who have turned sleepless after David Warner’s injury, have recalled Ponting to join the national team’s batting camp, held in Melbourne. Thus the rock-star will not be able to play a BBL match scheduled on December 21.
Currently, the Oz side is wrangling with a number of tough challenges as almost all of its key players are enduring fitness problems. The selectors have not been able to announce a final Test squad while the high-stakes series is just six days away.
The biggest predicament for the Kangaroos lies in their batting line-up which is composed of the players who have been out-of-form since the last few months. Both the senior batsmen, Punter and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MEK-Hussey-c1942, did not perform well during last two series
against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
World cricket experts suggest that Ponting should concentrate on perking up his Test batting instead of wasting time in the BBL.
