Ricky Ponting to play for Hobart Hurricanes
Former Australian Test Captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377 will join the Hobart Hurricanes in the inaugural KFC Big Bash T20 Tournament later this year.
The all time Australian great is looking forward to playing with his home team and believes that his mind and heart was set to play only for the Tasmanian based franchise.
Nick named the “Punter”, the explosive batsmen has played in 22 domestic T20 matches averaging 24 with a best of 98 not out.
He remains the most successful captain the Australian has ever produced, leading his side to two World Cups glories.
Regarding his recruitment for the Hurricanes outfit, he said that he had the desire to represent only http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854,which had led him to make many sacrifices in his career.
Currently living in Sydney, the Tasmanian native will have a short stint with Hobart Hurricanes and wants to make the most of it.
The tournament clashes with Ponting’s international commitments but he is simply content to play for his home team, even if it is for a game or two.
Ponting, who retired from international T20 cricket in 2009, in order to focus mainly on the longer format of the game, believes that he has still a lot to offer in the shorter version too and could make a decent mark in the domestic competition.
Meanwhile, Tasmanian Skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/George-Bailey-c1480, however has switched allegiance and will play for the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash tournament.
Bailey, has a Melbourne based girlfriend and wanted to spend more time with her. Regarding that the 28 year old said: “I’ve got a girlfriend who lives in Melbourne, which is a big thing for me to take into account.”
Ponting had few words of disappointment regarding Bailey’s witch, but believes that in the modern state of cricket, especially the shorter format, players are bound to switch to different states.
“It’s going to happen more and more the way the Big Bash is set to expand”, Ponting stated.
