Disappointed at failing to help his country avoid defeat in the third Test of the three-match series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 at Perth, Ricky Ponting, the former Australia captain, has expressed that he wanted to end his career on a high
note.
After a run of poor performances in the all-important series, which was going to decide the number one ranked Test team of the world, Ponting announced his retirement from the game on the eve of the Perth Test.
The former Aussie captain, who is considered to be a legend of the game, was expected to register a big knock in his last match but that was not to be as the Tasmanian managed just 12 runs in the two innings.

While speaking to reporters after the fixture, Ponting revealed that he desperately wanted to deliver the goods at Perth and is not happy with the outcome for him as well as the team.
“I know I've been more nervous this game than any other game that I've played. Just for the reason how much it means for me to play for Australia and wanting to finish the right way,” said the Aussie skipper. “So it has been a hard
week and we haven't got the result we were after and I haven't got the result I was after.”
The 37-year-old cricketer has represented the Baggy Greens in 168 Tests, 375 One Day Internationals and 17 T20s, having scored more than 27 thousand runs at the ultimate stage of the game, with the help of 71 centuries and 146 fifties.
The legendary cricketer also thanked his family, colleagues and fans for wishing him well in his last encounter.
“Looking back it's been a special week as well, having my whole family here's been great, unbelievable support from them, and great support from the fans and from my team-mates, so it's been a special week,” Ponting added.
Australia will now take on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in a three-match Test series, which begins from December 14, at Hobart.
