Ricky Romero is listed to 2011 American League All-Star roster – MLB News
Toronto Blue Jays’ starter, Ricky Romero confirmed his spot in the American League All-Star after throwing a bull-pen session and displayed his tricky pitches with little mix-ups of fast and curveballs.
It was an exciting moment for Romero when he heard about his addition in the Blue Jays’ roster for such a big game. He was ready to go back to Toronto after leaving the clubhouse. But he was told that he have to stay here and altered his plans. It was the
first appearance of Romero in any All-Star game.
Romero is now hopeful for a positive start, as his whole family will come to the ground and enjoys the thrilling moments. His one sister will miss the moments as she planned a trip to Europe just before the game begins.
Seattle Mariners’ starter, Felix Hernandez got a call first for initiating Tuesday’s game as he proved his abilities on Sunday by tossing the balls in perfect areas. But then, a sudden amendment in the roster was helpful for Romero that he had a chance for
making his debut in All-Star game.
In the Blue Jays’ clubhouse, Romero stated his feelings an said, “I’m at a loss for words right now. My family’s excited, especially where I came from. Representing East Los Angeles, and most importantly representing the country of Canada, I’m excited and
looking forward to it.”
There was some good news for the Blue Jays’ line-up as their reliever Casey Janssen also recovered from the right forearm injury and was able to begin his Minor League contests. He had an exemplary record in the last 28 games as he attained the Win-Loss
record of 2-0 with an ERA of 2.93. He will be the strong contender from the Blue Jays’ roster to fill-in the emergency spot.
John Farrell was reserved for the coaching purposes of the American League All-Star in cooperation with the Texas Rangers’ manager, Ron Washington on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters, Farrell said, “I’m looking forward to the two days. It’s a special event. This is the showcase for the mid-season point and it’s an honour to be going and representing and wearing a Blue Jays uniform.”
Romero was extraordinary in the last few series he played for the Blue Jays as he confirmed his spot in his team’s line-up by pitching accurately. In his overall baseball career, he had Win-Loss record of 34-26 and pitched the ball with an ERA of 3.77. Romero
had 416 strike-outs and 1.36 WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched).
Both leagues made certain changes in their rosters to keep the balance and wanted an improved result in the end.
