Ricky Romero reflects on his performance after Toronto Blue Jays beat the Boston Red Sox
Ricky Romero is having an amazing season thus far and his September 8 victory against the Boston Red Sox proved very special for the star, which has moved to 14 wins this season. Toronto Blue Jays used Romero’s skill to beat the Boston Red Sox 7-4 and clinch
the series at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario.
Heading to this fixture, Romero was 2-8 against the Red Sox. His ERA against the club was 8.08 and it was his highest posting against any team in the American League. Prior to this particular encounter, the Boston hitters had a .357 batting average against
the hurler but after the game, things changed.
Romero managed to allow just three runs from five hits in just over six innings. His ERA fell to 3.01 and he managed to pickup seven strike-outs along his way. Blue Jays’ manager John Farrell was pleased with the performance and it counted a lot as the club
took out the Boston team 3-1 in the four-game series. Romero talked to press after the game and he explained his mentality during the fixture.
"I just came out and I was aggressive," said Romero. "I was down in the zone with strikes and made them chase pitches out of the zone. I think that's what you have to do with these guys. You can't fall behind, because once you fall behind, you get in trouble."
Blue Jays are 7-9 against the Red Sox, this season. With one last series kicking off on Tuesday, Romero will be back in action against the Red Sox. However, that does not bother him.
"I don't really pay attention to it," Romero said. "I don't really care how I've done against them in the past. I think I have them next start. I have them out in Boston. I'll get ready for them again and just hope we can come out on top."
Ricky Romero is 14-10, so far in the season and with three weeks left, there is no telling where the pitcher is looking to go.
