Ricky Rubio cleared to participate in full contact practice by doctors – NBA News
The Minnesota Timberwolves have started the season on a rather disappointing note, after creating much hype and anticipation about their projected performance in the offseason when they acquired players like Brandon Roy and Andrei
Kirilenko. The Wolves are 6-8 so far in the season, not the start they would have wanted in a season filled with excitement and expectations. However, the Wolves played started the season without both Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio, the team’s core and two of
their best and most important players. Although Love returned after missing a few games, Rubio is still out of action as he continues to recover from an ACL injury he suffered in March this year, which brought his rookie season to a complete halt and sidelined
him for the rest of the season.
However, the Wolves released some great news on Wednesday when Rubio was examined by his docter and then cleared to participate in full contact practice with the team. The news comes as a sigh of relief for the team, who have been
waiting for their point guard and floor general to return to the line-up and guide them back to their winning ways. The team tweeted on twitter that Rubio had been cleared for practice, and would now be closely examined by the team medical staff during practice
to see when he becomes game ready.
Rubio was one of the most exciting point guards in the league last season, making a big name for himself in his rookie season and forming a great team chemistry with Kevin love to help the Wolves improve as a team. He was averaging
10.6 points, 8.2 assists and 4.2 rebounds for the team, and using his creativity to spread the floor and help the team get points. His injury came as a big blow to the Wolves team, who were in playoff contention till the time he was around but suddenly fell
off after his injury.
In Rubio’s absence, Luke Ridnour has been performing the point guard duties while J.J Barea has been backing him up. When Rubio returns, not only will he take over the point guard duties but will also allow Ridnour to return to
his role as the sharpshooter off the bench for the team.
