Ricky Rubio nearing return to Minnesota Timberwolves team after being sidelined with ACL injury – NBA News
After a string of injury issues and problems with the team roster, the Minnesota Timberwolves seem to be getting back on track as most of their players who has been injured have now returned and they are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their point guard Ricky Rubio. Kevin Love returned to the Wolves line-up a few days ago, J.J Barea and Nikola Pekovic have also returned from their respective injuries which means that the roster is almost full and the Wolves are back to full gear. And the latest out of the team is that Ricky Rubio is also very close to making a return to the team sooner than expected.
Rubio tore his ACL last season, and was expected to return some time in the middle of December. However, he is scheduled to visit his doctor in the coming few days where he is likely to get clearance to start practicing with the team.
Rubio has been working hard on his rehab, and has been seen working along before the Wolves games. He seems to be court ready and has been working a sweat the past few days in hopes of getting in shape and starting for the Wolves in the first week of December.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have not had the best start of the season after an offseason acquisition campaign that saw them add the likes of Brandon Roy, Andrei Kirilenko and Alexey Shved into the line-up and make them one of the teams to watch out for in the Western Conference. However, they have not performed as anticipated so far in the season, and are now looking towards Rubio to return to the team so that they can being playing with a full roster on their original system. Besides being a great playmaker and hustle player, Rubio is also a great defender at the one spot and his return could greatly help the Wolves improve their defence.
"When he was healthy last year, he was very good keeping the people in front of him. He was able to control the guard he was guarding and not let him get around him. He was in the Top 5 in steals. He was always in the right spot defensively as a team defender, too. He'll help us. He's give us a little more size there. His instincts will help us a lot,” said Wolves Head Coach Rick Adelman.
