Ricky Walden all set to face Stuart Bingham in final of 2012 Wuxi Classic – Snooker Update
England’s Ricky Walden grabbed an easy win over the Scotsman Marcus Campbell in the second semi-final encounter of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament. He continued his tremendous performance to book his place in the final encounter against the winner
of the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open, compatriot Stuart Bingham where he will battle to get a good start of his run in the new snooker season.
The Englishman is feeling quite confident playing against Bingham and believes that he will perform well in the final match. Both potters performed impressively against their opponents during the 2012 Wuxi Classic run at the Wuxi Sports Center arena in Wuxi,
China. The Chinese snooker fans are definitely expecting a nail-biting clash in the arena.
Meanwhile, Walden spoke to World Snooker about his final opponent, “Yeah it should be a good final, we've both got similar games. We both like to get in amongst the balls and score heavy. Stuart's a great player and I'm thoroughly looking forward to getting
out there and testing myself against him tomorrow, hopefully I can play well.”
He added, “I think it's about how you start off the match. We're both positive players and I don't think there's any particular advantage on paper about who's going to win the match.”
Walden cruised into an early lead of two frames over Campbell at 3-1 when he clinched three frame wins in reply to the Scotsman’s one frame triumph in the opening session. He kept his run going pretty well in the second session as well and was able to claim
the victory by 6-1.
On the other hand, Bingham faced strong resistance from compatriot Mark Davis in the semi-final encounter when he was leading the game 4-0. Davis sprang back in the second session after the interval and pulled level at 4-4. The final three frames of the
match were the most tussling frames because both potters were trying their best to grab the lead. Bingham triumphed in this tussle and claimed two frames of the match to win it by 6-5. It will be exciting to watch both Bingham and Walden battle it out for
top honours in the tournament.
