Ricky Walden ecstatic after winning 2012 Wuxi Classic title against Stuart Bingham – Snooker Update
After putting up an excellent snooker display at the Wuxi Sports Center arena in Wuxi, China, England’s Ricky Walden was able to claim the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament title ousting the winner of 2011 Australian Goldfields Open, compatriot Stuart
Bingham by the score line of 10-4 in the final encounter.
The clash was expected to be a thriller as both players came a long way to reach the ultimate battle against each other. Walden was feeling quite ecstatic and overwhelmingly happy after winning the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker event title.
While speaking to World Snooker after winning the title, Walden said, “I'm over the moon to win the event. It was a tough game today, I won a few good early frames on the black to open up a lead and I played pretty solid from then. Stuart missed a couple
of balls and I took advantage of the few mistakes that he made.”
He added, “Stuart looked like he was hitting the ball a bit better and he was putting a few good breaks together.”
However, the match up did not go the way it was supposed to but still the middle session of the game did show some turning tables when Bingham bounced back with three consecutive frame wins firing some tremendous snooker breaks. Despite a good try in the
third session, Bingham failed to improvise accordingly and give a tough time to his opponent tumbling down quite easily in the end.
On the other hand, Walden had a tremendous start of the match with a classy snooker display as he cruised into 4-0 lead after pushing his opponent down in the opening session. The second session was also Walden show but Bingham was able to steal one frame
from the session. Walden’s six-frame lead at the end of second session was enough to put a barrier in Bingham’s run.
The third session witnessed an amazing comeback from Bingham as he claimed three frame wins but it was not enough to stop Walden’s run and he clinched the title by 10-4. Walden managed to put in a tremendous performance and win the final as he will be looking
to carry his winning momentum forward in to the snooker season.
