Ricky Walden hits Top 10 of World Snooker Rankings: 2012 Wuxi Classic – Snooker Update
After putting up an excellent snooker display in the final encounter of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament at the Wuxi Sports Center arena, England’s Ricky Walden was able to claim the event title beating the Englishman Stuart Bingham by the score
line of 10-4. With this victory, Walden has improved his position in the World Snooker Rankings and now he is one of the Top 10 potters.
Walden spoke after his win, “I was just trying to hang in there and just keep doing what I was doing, playing solid stuff, keeping it tight, as tight as I can and hoping my chance would come and I took it in the end. I’m very, very pleased.”
Walden clinched his first ranking title in 2008 when he won the Shanghai Masters. After that he tumbled down in the standings and failed to improve his rank during his run in the next seasons. In the previous snooker season, the Englishman tried his best
but still failed to make an appearance. The English potter entered the new snooker season with great ambition to perform tremendously and earn his true worth.
However, the start of the 2012-13 Snooker Season has become a lucky beginning for the Englishman since winning the 2012 Wuxi Classic has added some ranking points in his account which booked his place in the Top 10. Walden will be looking forward to retain
his title and improve his ranking until the finish of the season.
While speaking to the local media, Walden said, “I’m just looking forward to playing. It’s such a full calendar that you know that if you have a bad result one week you can have a good go the next week and try to redeem the result.”
Walden’s next stop is Bendigo Stadium where he will be participating in the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker tournament. Bingham is the defending champion and might face Walden once again during his run of the event. Ricky will be happy to have increased
his ranking and will be a treat to watch in the upcoming event as he has renewed his confidence by winning the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament.
