Ricky Walden pushes down Marcus Campbell in semi-final of 2012 Wuxi Classic – Snooker Update
After the successful finish of a tussling semi-final encounter between Stuart Bingham and Mark Davis, the second semi-final clash of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker event ended at the Wuxi Sports Center arena in China.
England’s Ricky Walden grabbed an easy win over Scotland’s Marcus Campbell by the score line of 6-1.
The match up was expected to be a thriller clash like the one between Bingham and Davis but it did not happen as Walden did not let his opponent add many frames in his account and tumbled down in the event. On the other hand, Walden cleared the table in
an instant and booked his place in the final encounter of the 2012 Wuxi Classic where he will be facing Bingham.
After the finish of second semi-final encounter, Walden spoke to World Snooker, “It definitely wasn't easy. I'm pleased with the way I played and I'm pleased with the result, but it was a tough match and I had to be on my game to beat Marcus today. I knew
it was going to be like that from the start.”
He further added, “I was pleased, 3-1 up at the interval, it's always nice to be there and Marcus could've nicked one and I could have lost one, so I was pleased with 3-1.”
The Englishman dominated the game from the beginning with a tremendous two-frame lead over Campbell by the score line of 3-1. Campbell failed to improvise accordingly in the opening session and pushed down by two frames. The second session of the match went
the same way like the first. Campbell, once again, failed to put even a single frame in his side of the score board.
Meanwhile, Walden continued brilliantly in the second session and claimed three frame victories to hit the final spot entry by the score line of 6-1. Walden is now up against the winner of the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open snooker tournament in the finals.
The clash seems to be a thrilling game because both potters are performing tremendously in the recent season and this event might prove a launching pad for their successful run in the season.
