Ricky Ponting has come out and said he want a 6 week window for players to be able to play in the IPL...

He says it is needed to help the future of cricket?

Do you think he has bought up a good point-OR do you think he is saying this from a money point of view?

I for 1 can see his point of view even though i could'nt care less about the IPL Ricky is looking out for the futre of cricket...

As he said it is about the young kids coming up and if they cant make that 6 week window most will be lost to the millions of dollars they can recieve with in this time....

  1. I think Ricky is also concerned about IPL luring away young talent from international cricket. It is true that except for countries like Australia,India and England, none of the other boards are able to pay their cricketers the same way as IPL does in some 7 weeks. Playing for one's country is one thing and earning money to live is another thing.

I think Ricky is putting this point across both from  money point of view and also to the good of future of cricket.

  2. what ever happened to playing for the love of YOUR country?

It seems these days people are playing just for the money and not for the game or the country they love.It is a money grabbing, player stealing load of c**p...

  3. fair point but they wont make their millions of dollars until they prove that they can play cricket to a intenational standard

otherwise the ipl will just be giving money away and it would go belly uphmmmm not a bad idea

  4. I agree with cossy.

  5. Initially I thought , he's gotta be kidding, it's going to ruin cricket if it stays. But if indeed he is serious about it being good for cricket, then I suppose it will eventually become worked into the programme. But I still hope the whole thing disappears as I hate it's intrusion into traditional cricket.
