Ricky ‘the Hitman’ Hatton returns to boxing as trainer – Boxing news
Ricky ‘the Hitman’ Hatton, who is a former two-time International Boxing Federation and International Boxing Organisation light welterweight champion, has finally decided to return to the sport in the role of a trainer.
The 33-year-old, Hatton, who once ruled the sport of boxing, will make his dramatic return in November 2011 and the first fighter who has teamed up with him is Blackpool welterweight, Adam Little. Hatton recently took out a trainer’s license and he will
be in Little’s corner on November 12, 2011 at Oldham Sports Centre to guide his fighter.
Hatton, who during his career held a record of winning 45 of his 47 professional fights, with 32 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, told the media he was considered as one of the best boxers during his time and he will try to be one of the best
as a trainer now.
Hatton said, “I boxed to be the best in the world and nothing has changed now I’ve become a trainer. My standards are still as high as they were as a fighter, and I hope to try and be the best trainer in the world.”
Hatton held an unbeaten record of winning all of his 43 bouts before he met the five-division world champion, Floyd Mayweather, back in December 2007 in a much-anticipated bout. Hatton lost the fight to Mayweather via a 10th round
knockout.
Later on after winning two fights, Hatton took on the Pac-Man, Pacquiao, who is an eight-division world champion on May 2009. Hatton suffered a brutal second round knockout this time which forced him to walk away from the sport in depression but now he is
more than excited about his return, as he stated this is the biggest he has had in the past two years.
Hatton added, “This is the biggest buzz I have had since my fighting days. When I was going through my depression I would nip off to the pub, but I don’t want to now. I am looking forward to work every day and every evening I am sat up thinking what new
things we can do in training.”
