To mark these events, the Ricoh Women's British Open has announced a special ‘Best of British Day’. This day will be held on Saturday, September 15. This will be the second last day of the event and both players and spectators will be part
of the festivities.
For starters, the players will be asked to wear red, white and blue, the national colours of the UK. Similarly, the spectators will be encouraged to show off their Jubilee day dresses at the golf course.
An important event to watch out for will be the flag raising ceremony by the British players.
A number of fun activities have been planned to make this day memorable for the spectators. Music acts, including a Beatles tribute and a brass band, will entertain the crowd. For children, face painting and other games will be available at the golf course
grounds.

The players are already very excited about the concept. Many British players who have announced their availability for the event have expressed their views about this special day.
The winner of the recent Ladies Irish Open, Catriona Matthew greatly appreciated the move and said, “I think the ‘Best of British Day’ is a fantastic way to celebrate the amazing year we’ve had, starting with the Jubilee celebrations and moving into a summer
sporting achievement that will be tough to rival”.
She was joined by Melissa Reid, Carly Booth, Laura Davies and Karen Stupples. Reid was particularly enthusiastic about the day.
She said, “This is a great initiative and one that promises to engage sports fans across the board. It’s the final Major of the year and I hope everyone comes down and gets involved in the amazing atmosphere of the Ricoh Women’s British Open”.
