Ricoh Women’s British Open 2012: Best of British Day on September 15
The Ricoh Women’s British Open 2012, which is scheduled to be staged from September 13-16, is also going to celebrate 'Best of British Day' on 15th of September, paying tribute to British golf’s
efforts in successfully organising the event since its launch in 1976.
The officials of the prestigious tournament have decided to involve all the players to take active part in the celebration as they will be given blue, red and white outfit to wear on the set date — which falls
on Saturday. Players have welcomed the idea of the Ricoh Women’s British Open officials to tell the whole world that the major championship has gone through several phases and rough time, and now is the time to reap reward.
In addition to players taking part in the celebration by wearing colourful outfits, families are also invited to join the party on September 15, 2012. In order to spice up the festivity, the Queen will also
be gracing the event with her special guest appearance and a music act to pay tribute to The Beatles — a British rock band that performed from 1960-1970.
Players expressed their hope the celebration will pave the way for more improvement in the prestigious major tournament. Scottish Catriona Matthew, who is expected to be the star performer from the European
side at the Ricoh Women’s British Open 2012, said that she is pretty happy to see that the tournament is as successful as it was in its early years.
She said that the celebrations like the ‘Best of British Day’ can motivate players and the officials to further improve the event.
“I think the ‘Best of British Day’ is a fantastic way to celebrate the amazing year we’ve had, starting with the Jubilee celebrations and moving into a summer sporting achievement that will be tough to rival,”
Matthew said. “Hopefully we can manage one more amazing British performance between us that will see one of the home players winning the Ricoh Women’s British Open, the final Major of the year, to cap a fantastic summer of British sporting achievement”.
English Melissa Reid said that she is more than thrilled to learn about the ‘Best of British Day’ and looks forward to it.
