Ricoh Women’s British Open 2012 unveils formidable field
Ricoh Women’s British Open 2012 is scheduled to be played from September 13-16, at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Wirral, United Kingdom, with a strong field comprising top-ranked Ladies Professional Golf Association
(LPGA) stars.
The last edition of the Women’s British Open was won by current world number one Yani Tseng, who has been struggling to find form for the last few weeks.
The major attraction at the prestigious tournament will not just be Yani Tseng, but there will also be other prominent players, making the event more interesting.
Although the tournament is a few days away, the posters showing images of top-ranked LPGA players have been unveiled. The player that stands out the most in the poster is the defending champion Tseng. In addition
to the picture of Tseng’s that shows the world number one holding up her last year’s trophy, Suzann Pettersen of Norway and American Paula Creamer can also been seen.
According to the tournament officials, the roster of the Women’s British Open 2012 is going to feature plenty of prominent players such as Cristie Kerr of the United States, Na Yeon Choi, Karrie Webb, Catriona
Matthew, Laura Davies, Melissa Reid, Ai Miyazato and Michelle Wie.
Paula Creamer, who is the brand ambassador of the Ricoh Women’s British Open, spoke to the media and expressed her feelings about the impending battle at Wirral. She said that she is pretty enthusiastic about
the coming edition of the prestigious tournament, and she hopes to do her best this time.
Creamer said that the roster is fearsome, which will spice up the battle. She went on to say that the huge number of big names in the field is what will make this tournament sensational.
“There are 12 really great players from all over the world pictured on the 2012 Ricoh Women’s British Open poster and it is pretty amazing to think how many other girls should probably be pictured too,” Creamer
said.
“I think it shows just how strong the women’s game is right now and how many different players could be challenging at the final Major of 2012. I definitely hope I am amongst those on the leaderboard on Sunday
as it is one of my favourite events of the year and a tournament I would dearly love to win”.
