  1. 14 miles is very doable. Bring plenty of water if its hot, and wear comfy clothes like shorts over your swimsuits. You could bring a couple energy bars too and something to eat at the lake to get you some energy for the ride back home. As for the hair, I don't know much about that (im a guy) but wear whatever fits under your helmet the best. You could loose a little bit of weight from doing this, but nothing substantial. You will feel healthier too knowing that you have accomplished all that.

  2. 14 miles is not that far, so very doable.

Clothes - bike shorts are comfy to wear, but you can get away with wearing some leggings or close fitting shorts, for that distance. A top which is fitting & breathable would be useful (stay away from heavy cotton if possible - it gets sweaty quite quickly)

A bottle of water should be adequate, with maybe a light snack once you get there - like some fruit or a sandwitch. A backpack might come in handy, since aside from swimming gear, a basic patch kit, tube, pump & multi tool (if you have them) are useful to always carry.

I have longish hair & find that a low ponytail works best & a plait/braid is also a good hair style to wear under a helmet.

Since cycling is a low impact exercise & one can easily maintain an average of 10miles + per hour, you won't be burning that much calories.

You would need to ride that sort of distance on a regular basis, to see a noticeable change in weight.

But it's sounds like a fun day out, so just focus on that.

    Happy riding
