Riding Lawn mower won't start...........?

Usually my riding mower starts right up, but if I shut it off before I'm done using it, it will not restart. It'll crank and crank, but fail to start. A couple of weeks ago the mower just shut down while I was operating it and wouldn't restart. I vaugely remember hearing something about "vapor lock", could that be my problem ? What should I check ? Is it over-heating ?? When it's running it runs great!

  1. I would check the spark plug you may need to clean it or replace it. My lawn mower will foul the plug out every once in awhile, so I bought two plugs so when one fouls I just take it out and replace it and then clean the other one up.

  2. when you shut the engine of it's very likely floods the engine and it will not start til the gas evaporate you might need a minor carburetor adjustment, also check the air filter see if it's clean,  you may put a little Heet in the gas not to much that will help to ignite the gas, and clean the spark  plugs

  3. If it is a Briggs engine, look on the bottom of the carburetor.  There will be two small wires plugged into the bottom of the carb.   Pull the connector off and clean the contacts.  This is a fuel shut off, it closes when there is no power.  With the key in the run position check the voltage at the plug.  It should have 12volts.

  4. yep could be vapor lock, look to see if there is a shut off valve on the line, if so turn it off when your done with it,

also check the vent on the gas tank cap,
