  1. Found it also helps to keep your wrist as straight as possible and not bent back.

  2. Body and hand postion will make a difference as already stated. One thing you can look into if you keep having hand problems is wider grips.

    Try Ergon grips http://www.ergon-bike.com/us/grips/index...

  3. Where do you ride? I'm going to assume it's mainly on the brake lever hoods, no?

Change your hand position often, fortunately with drop bars on a road bike, there's loads to choose from.

Also I would recommend some gloves with gel inserts (in fact gloves/mitts in general seems to help anyway) - Specialized do a "BG" (Body Geometry) range of accessories, which should be of help.

I would also consider shortening your stem or moving your saddle forward slightly as you *might* be putting too much of your weight on your arms. I try and spread the weight between my arms, but and legs.

  4. Tom is right start with hand position and may be some better gloves.

Also swing by a shop and have them check you bike setup, Handlebar angle and stem length. I was having similar problems with numbness and it was caused by being to stretched out. Shorter stem was needed.

    Hope it helps,
