Riding a bike at the beach?

You know, I'm thinking about heading to the beach next week, and I might take a sportbike, and I've never rode there and was just thinking, are the streets in a around there any more difficult to navigate because of all the moisture and sand being blown onto the road?

  1. I went to PC on a cruiser. Nothing to it other than the trip back home. A garbage truck had stopped at a signal light and leaked oily c**p all over the left lane. I was able to secure footing but had to roll into the pedestrian walk to do so. Sand wasn't so much a problem except on the highways, and then it was just from other cars and trucks blowing it up. Beware others on scooters and the like because for many, it is their first time riding. They drive like S**t while looking at everything but the traffic.

  2. Your concern though, is valid.  Depending on how the city treats the area, sand in corners, or especially in parking lots around the area can be bothersome.

Still, no reason not to go, and you should enjoy.  Just like most places you've not been to before, take it easy until you have a feel for the area and it's associated "challenges".

Watch out for the other sightsee-ers.  While they are watching the sights, they can't see you.

  3. You won't have any trouble at all. A bike is the only way to see the sights. Have a great trip!
