Riding mower carb problem?

Have a kohler 17 horse on my riding mower. getting gas to the carb but turned it over alot and doesn't fire at all and the plug isn't getting wet with gas even the new plug. I guess I have a plugged jet. My question is how to clear it. I have not had alot of experince with carbs

  1. The best thing to do is to remove the carb and clean it properly.  That is take it apart and soak it in a carb cleaner.  Than put it back together with a rebuild kit.  It is not a hard job and there is no magic to it.  Take your time with it and it will go easy.


  2. They're easy if you've done a few successfully......

    Some of the fasteners may be hard to remove even if you have done them before......It's a dirty greasy job if you're not used to that kind of work.

    If you've got a mower mechanic nearby, he might be the better bet.

    17 horse sounds like it might be worth a trip to the shop.
