Question:

Riding out of state on a motorcycle permit?

If i have a PA motorcyle learners permit, can I ride in NJ without a 2nd licensed motorcyclist? In PA, as long as you have a class C license already, you dont need to have a 2nd person with you on a seperate bike, but in NJ you do. I could see the law going both ways, NJ could honor PA's permit laws, but NJ tends to suck, so i'm thinking they probably make you follow thier permit laws even if your from out of state.

I will be getting my license, but I just got the permit saturday.. I am asking this question, because i live right by the bridge, and most of my friends and my job are in NJ, and just want to know if im going to get my bike impounded if i ride it to work one day.

Thanks!

  1. You will be breaking the law, don't do it.

  2. Permits are not recognized by any other state.  That's for the motorcycle and cars.  So you can't ride with your permit in NJ at all.

In some state, if you move, you can transfer the permit, but that only from and to states (with restrictions)

The thinking is that you are suppose to be practicing not traveling long distance.

    Good Luck...
