Riding the bus.?

I'm 15 years old, and I have to ride the city bus. It's how I have to get home. Anyways, sometimes they don't always stop at my stop unless somebody is there? Am I supposed to tell them which stop is mine when I get on? Do I press something? God I'm so confused. Thank you.

  1. yes, look for the stop request cord on either side of the bus. I pull it as soon as the bus has passed the stop before mine. That way the driver has plenty of warning.

  2. Yes,  just walk to the front and let the drive know before your stop.

  3. There should be a "stop request cord" along the wall of the bus that you can pull to let the driver know you are ready to get off.  They should stop and let you off as soon as it is safe to do so..

  4. when you board the bus you could aslo tell the driver

to let you know when your stop is coming up

(now adays a lot of the buses now have voice annoucments

saying the next stop is so and so,)

so when you hear that you pull the cord (or push the stop strip)

  5. Most buses have a chime cord that you pull to alert the driver to stop at the next stop.  Try asking the driver or another rider where it is if you don't see it.
