This epic tussle proved real test of their mental and physical strength as it prolonged to three exhausting sets before ending with decisive figures of 15-21, 21-14 and 25-23.
Ridwan showed commendable fighting spirit and locked the honour despite of going down in the opening game.
On the other hand, the opposing Indonesian shuttler could not capitalise his first set win and crashed out of the home event in a disgraceful manner.
The first set of match was completely dominated by Tri Haryanto as he played flawless badminton from very first stroke to the last one.
He established an unassailable lead by clinching many valuable points immediately in the beginning.
This initial advantage helped him to keep his rival at the lower end until the announcement of break.

After the mid-game break, he widened the gap with few back-to-back productive rallies and won first set with an impressive total of 21-15.
However, it proved Tri Haryanto’s last success in the home event as he could not go with same flow in the following games.
Meanwhile, Ridwan showed a transformed character in the second set and brought the contest to right balance.
He played with great conviction and gained an early advantage without any trouble. He mounted pressure by registering a mountainous figure of 11 before the one-minute break and made best out of this psychological edge in latter part of the game.
Ridwan did not lose focus at any stage of game and swept the table with an overwhelming margin of 21-14.
Third set became consequential with this development as both contenders were equal in match score position.
They chased each other until the final moments and made the crowd gasp with this breath-taking performance.
