Rie Kaneto claims Women’s 200m breaststroke title – FINA Swimming World Cup, Singapore
Rie Kaneto of Japan claimed gold medal of the Women’s 200m breaststroke on day two of the final stop of the 2012 FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup Series in Singapore, Asia on Sunday, November 11.
The Japanese swimmer faced no trouble from her opponents in the distant breaststroke discipline and appeared on the finishing end for gold medal.
With her invincible efforts throughout the race, Kaneto remained comfortably ahead of her opponents as she touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 20.18 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Sally Foster of Australia, who stayed 1.97 seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing end for second position by producing a time of 2 minutes and 22.15 seconds.
Foster was chased by Miku Kanasashi of Japan, who was 3.12 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the finishing end for bronze medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 25.27 seconds.
Kanasashi was chased by Miyu Otsuka of Japan, who was 0.99 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end as fourth position holder by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 26.26 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was obtained by Ying Zhang of China, who remained 1.44 seconds apart and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 27.70 seconds.
Similarly, Zhang remained 0.31 seconds ahead of Samantha Marshall of Australia, who concluded her race in a time of 2 minutes and 28.01 seconds for sixth best place.
Marshall was followed by Samantha Louisa Yeo of Singapore, who was 1.73 seconds slower from her former finisher and transpired on the finishing end as seventh position holder by producing a time of 2 minutes and 29.74 seconds.
Yeo was trailed by Amelia Dahlitz of Australia, who was unable to show any improvement in the playoff. Dahlitz remained almost four body length slower and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 34.08 seconds for eighth place.
In addition, Kaneto expressed happiness over her victory in the 200m discipline and told that she would train harder after the world cup series to accomplish the same at World Championship.
