Question:

Rifle Sights (EoTech Vs. Others)?

I have the opportunity to get an EoTech 512 this weekend for US$377 shipped.

Is it worth it, or would I be better off waiting and getting a Trijicon or other optic.

This will be used on my M4gery AR-15 Carbine. Main use is range shooting and SHTF.

  1. eotech is great for cqb, take it over the acog any day.  for anything other than cqb(farther than 100 yards) the acog is king.

I have the eotech on mine

  2. any way you can help me get an eotech to cheap priced i need one.. but to answer your question the eotech is one of the best optics money can buy i would definatly get it. The acog usually costs alot and for shtf and range shooting it is great but you should look in to i think it is the 557 model it is designed especially for you guns ballistics and it has a red dot that compensates for bullet drop. it is the average ring with about 4 or 5 vertical red dots the 1st for up to 100 y the secon i think for 300y the third for like 4 and the 500 for like 600 look into it if you have the money it sounds pretty cool im not sure i listed the right model but if you look at the eotech sight you will find the one im talking about

  3. I have used an EoTech, and thought that it was not worth the money. It does not help bring the target closer with magnification, so 50 plus yard shooting was better served by an ACOG or similar low power sight(I bought a Leopold 1x-3x).

Anything inside 50 meters, is dead with iron sighs. h**l anything inside 200 meters is dead with iron. But then again I am a bit ol fashioned when it comes to marksmanship. I still shoot an M1A in basic trim out to 200 meters, and have killed deer out to 100 meters with a lever action .44mag rifle.

There is no question about it, the EoTech works well, looks cool, and will help a mediocre shooter become an exceptional one.

I just figgured that I know I am good at close range(less than 100 meters) so I put a Leupold 1 to 3 power on my AR10 carbine(.308 caliber built by Armalite), iron back ups.

I use the 1 power for just about anything inside 100 meters, and the rest for out to 300 meters.
