Not all stones appear on x-ray. Generally an ultrasound is a better choice for looking for stones and also measuring the kidney and tracking blood flow as well as being able to detect any distention. Go back to your urologist and ask for a more complete work up to figure out the source of your pain and whether it is kidney related. good luck.
