Right Step heads on with impressive credentials for the Infinity Tyres Stakes (Handicap) at York
The Class 2 Infinity Tyres Stakes (Handicap) will be held at York over a mile, two furlongs and eighty-eight yards on Wednesday, 16th May. Competing for the £12,938 prize money are sixteen four-year and older runners.
Not all of them have raced at York and neither have all the entries stepped into the new season. Those who did try their luck at the race course could not transform the chances into wins.
Right Step, Xaar’s five-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Maid To Dance, did race thrice at York during the previous but nothing impressive came out through both the tries.
His current season however is far better as he has already credited two wins against his name out of the three ventures that he undertook.
None of the races were at York and all the three races that he was a part of were at different venues.
Right Step won the 32Red Novices’ Hurdle on 17th March at Kempton over two miles. He dodged Tweedledrum into the second place while leading by 1 ¼ lengths. The winner had Tom O’Brien onboard.
The 2/1 favourite of the race, Cape Express, finished fourth on the track of twelve.
The second start of the season did shake the confidence a bit as the five-year-old ended eighth in the Grade 2 Tangle Teaser Top Novices’ Hurdle at Aintree over two miles and half a furlong on 13th April.
Getting back into form, Alan Jarvis trained won the Investec City And Suburban Handicap on 25th April at Epsom over a mile and two furlongs. Riding with Jim Crowley, Right Step led the runner up of the race, Sirvino, by one and a half lengths.
Settling third was Tres Coronas while the 7/2 favourite of the race, Ittirad, ended fourth.
Fourth outing of the new season and at a fourth different race course adds to the already impressive profile of the five-year-old. He should look out for the four-year-old Flag Officer who is racing his seasonal debut today.
He scored second in the Give Generously To Macmillan Stakes (Handicap) on 11th June at York over a mile and two and a half furlong.
This was his final race of the previous season and he is starting the 2012 campaign by racing at York.
