  1. in little league there aren't that many lefties so the ball get hit less that way so thats why the coaches figure that they can put a there worst player there.

  2. It's true right field does get a bad reputation in little league. There's an old saying: "Put the fat kid in right". I was that fat kid once.

  3. Little league mostly all bad players get sent to the outfield but right field is mainly because their is a lack of lefties and its not like your gonna get a lot of slap ball right handed hitters in little league. As the years go on tho they will start evening out and right will need some better fielders then left.

  4. Little League and Major Leagues are two different games, really.  In Little League, they are merely trying to "hide" the weakest fielder on the team in RF, since most hitters are RH'ed, and can't hit w/power to the opposite field.  In the majors, the RF position IS a corner position, so they'll need the RF'er to provide at least some power at the plate.  They also need good speed, and most important, they need the powerful arm to prevent guys from taking an extra base (usually from 2nd to 3rd..) on a deep ball to right.  Nick Markakis and Ichiro are two RF'ers with cannon arms, who are great RF'ers.

  5. But many of us failed pitchers and third baseman end up in rightfield.  It's a position for the guy who is a little slower but has a great arm.  Also nowadays, any lefty can't play rightfield, so if you're right handed and put in the outfield you will most likely end up in rightfield.  Little league is different obviously.

  6. The reason right fielders don't have a good rep in little league is because there are very few left handed batters so they usually pull the ball unless you are playing a bunch of kids who can go opposite.

  7. in little league the ball never gets hit to right b/c no one knows how to yet, that changed for me when i was about 13 and kids starting getting serious about baseball

  8. Its bad because most are right handed hitters so not alot of balls are hit to right. However in high school it changes alot. LF is supposed to have a great bat, average glove. CF amazing speed good glove below average bat. Right Field, Cannon for an arm (Gary Sheffield, Bobby abreau, formely raul mondesi) average bat, good glove.

  9. The thinking is that in little league, very few hitters can hit with power to the opposite field, and most are right handed.

In high school already, and certainly in the MLB, players can hit to all fields, and there is a disproportionate amount of left handers anyhow.

  10. Most little league players are righthanded batters and cant hit the ball to the opposite field. Kid sucks, you want less baseballs hit to him. One of our best hitters played right field in little league because he couldnt field, so right field is for people who suck at fielding, not who suck in general.
