If you are warned about a family that moves in next door about conduct towards children, no other info given as to which member or what to be carefull of, Who do you go to for help.We have such a situaon on our hands and have come to a dead end.

During a conflict with one member of the family, we find out that another is known to police and social workers in England, and when the family moved in next door in scotland, we were informed to beware. Nothing more..We need to know and have a right to know what we are up against as we have young children..Can you help with this and any info would be happily taken in. This is in scotland not england so the law may be different here.

  1. "We want to know" is not the same as "we have a right to know".

    Three thoughts:

    - People (including your neighbours) do have a right to privacy

    - People (including your neighbours) do have a right to change their ways, leave their past behind them and not to be judged by their neighbours for things they did in the past and payed for.

    - If it was really very serious, don't you think you would have received more information?  The fact you were told so little should tell you something.

  2. Best advice, just watch your kids.  Never leave them unattended even for a few seconds.  Be prepared if something jumps off.  And if anything happens to your kids as a result of the neighbors, or anyone for that matter, press the issue to the fullest.

Unless something happens there is nothing you can do.  You have to wait for the law to be broken.  The thought police are not fully active yet.
