Question:

Right shoulder blade area begins to hurt when running at full speed?

Hello,

I've always had this problem however I've never bothered to inquire about it. I'm a fast guy, however I can't ever run at my full speed because whenever I attempt to, shortly after running, the area around my right shoulder blade begins to ache horridly. The pain is so intense that it will literally ruin my day if I don't let up soon enough. The pain kind of travels from my right shoulder blade all the way down my back as well as my arm. If anyone has any ideas as to what this may be, please let me know.

Thank you.

  1. Your answer is that you are getting older. Sorry. I am no trainer.

  2. It could be how you carry your arms when you run: if your arms aren't moving in sync or at ease with your pace, or if you're tensing them up without realizing it, that can cause pain.  Or, you may have something like a pinched nerve somewhere, if the pain travels.

  3. I don't have an answer to this, but I have the same problem.  I'm 20 so the "getting older" response is probably wrong!  Mine is in the left shoulder blade and stretching never seems to help.  I suggest going to a doc...I think I might.
