  1. I don't know what H1B means as I am not from the US. India is recruiting heavily for pilots at the moment. Have a look at the Indigo website for example. They prefer to employ Indians, so if you are an American citizen then you will find it much more difficult. I recommend contacting them before you embark on expensive flight training.

  2. It sounds like the other answers thought you wanted to work in software.  To be a pilot, you need to start flight training.  I would suggest you get your private license at a local flight school where you currently reside.  Then, talk to your instructor, read books, get magazines, and look into flying for a living.  It's very possible, and I hear India needs pilots badly.  They actually pay US citizen pilots a lot to go out there on contracts.  I would also look at PPRUNE.com, which is a website that has a lot of information about foreign flying.  Flightinfo.com is another good one.  Best bet?  Finish your training here, get a job with a regional US based airline, and then start looking for work in India.  The US regionals are hurting for pilots right now.  They will take just about anyone with a commercial license and an instrument rating.  Good luck.

  3. Yep, it is the perfect time.

I don't when your H1 visa expires. You can start training with Flight School.

Google your zip code and flight school. Then call them, explain your situation.

I am abroad for my Flight Training as well and I am going back home in 1 year or so!

As you attend flight school(I preferred 1 on 1 class) you will get Private Pilot License, then instrument and then Commerical rating.

Once that you work at the school as flight instructor(that's why I like one on one class). Work as Flight Instructor for about 6 months or so, that way you can earn money and flight experience. Then Come back home. Take commercial checkride with DCGA in India. Then apply at Regional Airlines such as King Fisher, Air Deccan and Indian Airline.

I know it sounds little complicated but it is so eash once you get everything started!

You can email me if you would like. We can discuss this together!
