my mum has had her DLA reduced greatly, mostly for her mobility allowance. she has been suffering from fibromyalgia for nearly 20 years now and does not ever have 1 day when she doesn't have pain. she finds it hard walking, going up and down stairs etc etc. i am absolutely furious that someone who has never set eyes on my mum can make the decision to take this away from her. ive told her to speak to citizens advice. she is very disheartened about this. how can someone who greatly needs this service have it taken away from her when millions of people who have nothing wrong with them at all get away with it!!!!!!!! does anyone have any advice plz?????

  1. In my experience you often have to wait a while to get an appointment at the CAB. Your local council may well have a benefits advice or welfare advice officer, who is trained specifically to help with appeals. It's definitely worth appealing. I applied for it when it was still Mobility Allowance, and got turned down. I appealed and the doctor who did the appeal medical was so angry with the doctor who did the first assessment that I got the higher rate awarded for the rest of my life. Definitely appeal.

  2. As any proffessional full time shirker will tell you,if you are the i can manage type, you will get this downgrading. There are many ways of telling the truth, you have to be a very good play actor to get your message across. The examiner may have an office upstairs with the lift out of order (think about it ) if you can reach him you are mobile are,nt you..You have to stumble to the lift then phone him and tell him you cannot make the stairs,or send someone up.You cannot hold a pen to fill in forms, get someone or him to do it for you,and so on and so forth. There are many Arthritis sufferers being conned out of their benefits by this sort of trickery.

  3. Just to talk her into going to the CAB.  They will help her.
