  1. Usually the permit tests ask about drugs, signs, and regular driving. If you get stuck on a red light question, you need to treat the red light as a stop sign, then make the right turn whenever safe. Some area allow turn on red, while others don't. I live in new York city and I can't do that, but when I go to new jersey for the summer, I'm allowed to, unless it says "no turn on red"

  2. First you stop fully and completely.

Once you have stopped and checked to see that your path is clear and have shoulder checked over your right shoulder to see that there are no hazards, THEN you may creep up over the crosswalk while covering  your brake, and continuing to scan, and turn into your closest available lane.

YOU MAY DO THIS if THERE ARE NO LAWS RESTRICTING A RIGHT TURN ON A RED LIGHT WHERE YOU LIVE.

  3. all 50 us states have a right on red law except where posted...thats the correct answer.

  4. Not in NYC.

so it really depends on where you live.

    Good Luck...

  5. Some states/provinces/countries allow it, some don't.  So it depends on where you live.

It is legal in Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana for sure.  I have been to places where it's not legal, but I don't remember where those were.

  6. its legal in kansas and i dont think it was on my permit test

  7. Hiya !

If you're talking about a box junction - then the rule is this:

Normally you must leave the yellow hatchings clear.

HOWEVER...  If you want to turn right at a box junction, and your exit is blocked by oncoming traffic, you can pull forward (past your set of traffic lights), and wait on the box until the traffic clears (IE when the traffic lights change back to red)

Then you can complete the right turn manoeuver.

  8. As long as there is no sign indicating no right turn on red. It is legal in SC. I'm not sure if that is on the test or not.

  9. it's usually legal when safe, provided you stop first (before the crossing)  and no signs indicate otherwise, but you should check the driver handbook that you were given to be sure it's OK in your state. Or indicate which state you live in so someone from that state can answer you!

  10. I looked up the SC driver's manual http://www.scdmvonline.com/DMVNew/forms....

and it says that you may turn right on red, if there is not a sign posted that says "no turn on red". you do, however, have to make a full stop and yield the right of way to any drivers that have a green light.

since it is in the driver's manual, its fair game for the permit test, but it may not be on yours.  Each person gets a different set of questions.

  11. Depends. If there is a sign saying "NO TURN ON RED" then it's not legal. Here in the state of Ohio it's completely legal but you have to STOP first and then go.

  12. It is legal to do in your state only if there is not a sign that states that there is no right turn on red allowed..........

  13. Different states have different laws and you need to check your state's laws.

In some jurisdictions a right turn on red is permitted; however, a right turn on a red arrow is NEVER permitted.

    Good luck on your test.
