Right turn on red...?

If you make a right turn at a red light when there are cars parked in the first lane of the street you are turning onto, are you allowed to drive over the crosswalk to make it easier to see the cars coming in the 2nd and 3rd lanes, or do you have to stop before the crosswalk no matter what? Can you stop before the crosswalk and then creep out a little?

  1. You have to come to a full stop at the stop line (before the crosswalk). Then you can ease forward until you have a good view around the parked cars. Same rule applies at a stop sign.

  2. Yes as long as you come to a complete stop.
