Right-winger Jesse Fratkin signs with Stockton Thunder of ECHL for one more year
Canadian ice hockey prospect, Jesse Fratkin has signed with Stockton Thunder, a team that plays in the minor league team based in California and plays in the East Coast Hockey League.
Stockton Thunder, who are affiliates of National Hockey League (NHL) side Edmonton Oilers, have strengthened their roster and team by re-signing the player who had made a huge contribution towards his team’s Kelly Cup second round run.
Last year was Fratkin’s first year with Stockton Thunder so he would return to them for one more year, in a deal, financial terms of which were not disclosed as per team’s policy.
In a press release issued by the team, head coach of Stockton Thunder, Matt Thomas praised 24-year-old winger’s performance and was impressed by the duties he performed in his first season. Thomas thinks that Fratkin responded well and did an amazing job
when he was put into tough situations and roles which were not his. He also told that they are looking to use him in more attacking positions as he said,
"Jesse had a good first year, providing versatility and a strong work ethic that didn't let up all season. Injuries to our club forced him into different situations that not many rookies are exposed to, and he responded well. He creates scoring chances because
of his relentless attitude each shift”.
The 6-foot-0, 183 pounder forward is also very excited to re-sign with Thunder’s team and in a press release he told that Stockton Thunder is a first-class organisation and a solid group. He wants to have success with them and do the job which he could not
complete last season by winning for all the fans and the city, as Burnaby British Columbia native said,
"Everything associated with Stockton makes me excited to return for this next season, The Thunder runs a first-class organization, and the potential to play again with a solid group from last year helps in the goal to build on our success”.
Fratkin had a great first season with Thunder in 2011-2012 as he played 56 games, scored 11 goals and 19 assists for total of 30 points. He had joined them after playing a successful career National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for Brown University,
for whom he scored 32 points, 14 goals and 18 assists in 96 games played over a time period of four years.
