Rigoberto Uran Uran happy with Team Sky performance at the Vuelta a Espana 2012
Rigoberto Uran Uran seems content with Team Sky, especially after the team’s support that he received at the ongoing Vuelta a Espana 2012.
The British side has sent a powerful squad at the third Grand Tour race of the season and Uran is accompanied by Christopher Froome and Sergio Luis Henao.
The Colombian rode brilliantly at the 2012 Olympic Games and was a strong gold contender before he was stopped by the Kazakhstani cyclist, Alexandre Vinokourov.
He succeeded during the stage 4 of the race and occupied the fifth overall spot at the Volta a Catalunya 2012.
The cyclist also participated at the second Grand Tour race of the season, the Giro d’ Italia 2012 and occupied the seventh overall position at the race.
Rigoberto also managed to claim the first overall position at the young rider’s classifications at the event which boosted his confidence for the remaining races of the year.
The cyclist holds as many as five Grand Tour appearances under his belt including two Giro d’Italia, two Tour de France and one Vuelta a Espana participation under his belt.
“It was a complicated stage today but we’ve shown that we’ve got a very strong team, and Chris is keeping a cool head and is in good shape”.
“I had some health issues earlier this week, but I’m feeling a lot better now and I think I showed that today”.
While commenting on Contador’s form at the Vuelta, “He’s been such a long time away from racing, he’s going to take a while getting back. He fell back slightly today, but he’ll be up there in the rest of the Vuelta for sure”.
Contador marked his return to professional cycling after being suspended for a period of two-years.
He missed all the major cycling events of the season and Vuelta a Espana was the only option for him.
The Spaniard is looking good to secure an overall victory at the Spanish Grand Tour and currently holds the third overall position after the stage 6 overall classifications.
Joaquim Rodriguez Oliver is leading the category with a total lead of 10 seconds over Christopher Froome.
Rigoberto Uran Uran of Team Sky Procycling and Robert Gesink of Team Rabobank occupies the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
