Rika Omoto secures Girls 200m IM gold – 2012 NCSA/Itoman Allstar Meet
Rika Omoto of Itoman secured gold medal of the Girls 200m Individual Medley (IM) on day one of the 2012 NCSA/Itoman Allstar Meet at the Golden West Swim Club in Golden West College on Friday, September 21.
Omoto, who earned her way into the final round as top contender for gold medal, lived up to the expectations of her supporters by dominating the playoff of the event.
With her gruelling pace, Omoto remained prominently ahead of her closest competitor and transpired on the finishing blockade for gold medal with a timing of 2 minutes and 15.33 seconds.
Her title claiming effort remained almost 1.70 seconds ahead of Namiki Ueda of Itoman, who followed Omoto on the finishing end for silver medal by clocking a time of 2 minute and 17.04 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Yui Ohashi of Itoman, who stayed 0.94 seconds apart and occupied third position of the race by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 17.98 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Katherine G Drabot of NCSA, who was 2.31 seconds behind and settled on the finishing end as fourth best finisher with a timing of 2 minutes and 20.29 seconds.
Drabot was traced by Janet Y Hu of NCSA, who remained 1.25 seconds behind and proved her eligibility for fifth position of the race by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 21.54 seconds.
Similarly, Hu enjoyed a benefit of almost three body lengths over Lisa N Bratton of NCSA, who completed her swim in sixth best place by touching the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 24.61 seconds.
Bratton was trailed by Corrigan C McIlmail of NCSA, who was 4.42 seconds away from her former finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 29.03 seconds.
Waka Yujiri of Itoman, who qualified as fourth fastest swimmer into the final, was disqualified from the event due to a false start and was unable to secure any position.
In addition, Omoto expressed contentment over her accomplishment in the IM discipline and raked medal for her performance after the event.
