Rikke Moeller Pedersen seizes Women’s 100m breaststroke gold – European SC Swimming Championships
Rikke Moeller Pedersen of Denmark seized gold medal of the Women’s 100m breaststroke on concluding day of the 2012 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Chartres, France on Sunday, November 25.
The Danish swimmer dictated terms to her challengers in the 100m discipline and sprinted her way towards the finishing wall for the title.
She enjoyed a substantial lead over her following swimmer and proved her eligibility for the crown by producing a time of 1 minute and 04.12 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Petra Chocova of Czech Republic, who stayed 1.38 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall for silver medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 05.50 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Marina Garcia Urzainqui of Spain, who suffered a loss of 0.32 seconds from Chocova and concluded her race in third place by submitting a time of 1 minute and 05.82 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Sycerika McMahon of Ireland, who stayed 0.36 seconds slower from Urzainqui and touched the wall by producing an effort of 1 minute and 06.18 seconds.
McMahon was followed by Jenna Laukkanen of Finland, who stayed 0.39 seconds slower from proving her eligibility on the medal rostrum by clocking a time of 1 minute and 06.57 seconds for fifth spot.
Laukkanen was traced by Henriette Brekke of Norway, who remained 0.16 seconds behind and transpired on the finishing end for sixth position by touching the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 06.73 seconds.
Brekke was chased by Dilara Buse Gunaydin of Turkey, who stayed 0.12 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 06.85 seconds for seventh place.
Eighth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Tjasa Vozel of Slovenia, who stayed 0.30 seconds behind and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 07.15 seconds.
In addition, Pedersen received a huge round of applause from the audience for her scintillating form in the race and said that she would continue her hard work in order to achieve the same in future.
