Rikke Moller Pedersen earns Women’s 100m breaststroke title: Day one - 2012 Sette Colli Meet, Italy
Rikke Moller Pedersen of Denmark earned gold medal of the Women’s 100m breaststroke on initial day of the 2012 Sette Colli Meet in Rome, Italy on Thursday, June 14.
Pedersen won the hearts of arena with her blistering performance in the double lap discipline. With her commendable pace, she enjoyed a wonderful lead over her strongest challenger and faced no trouble in securing gold medal of the event.
With her exceptional efforts, Pedersen remained almost half second faster from her following swimmer and posted a nice time of 1 minute and 07.88 seconds for gold medal.
The champion was trailed by Satomi Suzuki of Japan, who was 0.27 seconds behind and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 08.15 seconds for silver medal.
Third position of the discipline was secured by Jennie Johansson of Sweden, who suffered a deficit of 0.02 seconds from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 08.17 seconds for bronze medal.
Fourth position of the event was secured by Michela Guzzetti of Italy, who was 0.22 seconds away from the bronze medallist and tapped the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 08.39 seconds.
Guzzetti was trailed by Rebecca Ejdervik of Sweden, who remained half a second slower from her former finisher and secured fifth position of the discipline by submitting an effort of 1 minute and 08.94 seconds.
Sixth finest spot of the race was secured by Chiara Boggiatto of Italy, who stayed 0.51 seconds behind and finished her race with the timing of 1 minute and 09.45 seconds.
Boggiatto was chased by Mina Matsushima of Japan, who was 0.35 seconds apart and hit the finishing blockade with an effort of 1 minute and 09.80 seconds for seventh position.
Last position of the 100m discipline was obtained by Lisa Fissneider of Italy, who failed to upset any of her challengers and finished eighth in the event with the timing of 1 minute and 10.01 seconds.
In addition, the position holders received awards and accolades for their notable efforts at the prize distribution ceremony of the championship.
