Rikke Moller Pedersen wins Women’s 200m breaststroke gold: Day three - 2012 Sette Colli Meet, Italy
Rikke Moller Pedersen of Denmark won gold medal of the Women’s 200m breaststroke on concluding day of the 2012 Sette Colli Meet in Rome, Italy on Saturday, June 16.
The 23-year-old Pedersen served notice of her talent as she occupied gold medal of the distant breaststroke discipline. She continued her invincible efforts throughout the discipline and ensured her mettle for gold medal of the event.
With her nerve-wrecking pace, Pedersen snared the crown of the event with the timing of 2 minute and 24.35 seconds.
She was followed by Kanako Watanabe of Japan, who stayed 1.19 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing end as second best finisher with the timing of 2 minutes and 25.54 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Elisa Celli of Italy, who stayed 2.36 seconds away from her foregoing finisher and secured bronze medal of the discipline by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 27.90 seconds.
Fourth spot of the race was secured by Giulia De Ascentis of Italy, who was 0.66 seconds behind her former finisher and submitted a time of 2 minutes and 28.56 seconds.
Ascentis was trailed by her teammate, Lisa Fissneider, who stayed 0.39 seconds apart and hit the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 28.95 seconds for fifth position.
Fissneider was chased by her team-member, Chiara Boggiatto, who was 0.55 seconds slower and proved her eligibility for sixth position of the discipline by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 29.50 seconds.
Seventh position of the discipline was secured by Ilaria Scarcella of Italy, who was 0.07 seconds apart and tapped the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 29.57 seconds.
Subsequently, Scarcella remained 0.41 seconds away from Jenna Laukkanen of Finland, who failed to upset any of her opponents and ended eighth in the discipline by producing a time of 2 minutes and 29.98 seconds.
In addition, the championship concluded after the completion of all planned events while Pedersen received appreciation from the audience for her gruelling efforts. Furthermore, winners collected medals and accolades at the prize distribution ceremony of
the championship.
